Interview with Blogger Lancelot
By The Pakistani Spectator • Mar 12th, 2009 • Category: Interviews • 3 CommentsWould you please tell us something about you and your site?
I am a 23 year old, yet to be celebrity, with loads of weirdness and eccentricity. I believe in living for the moment. My site is world famous only in India, with its own pros and cons. I write on anything and everything under the sun. That’s why I have named it as “one of a kind”, as I don’t want it to be categorised in a particular genre.
Do you feel that you continue to grow in your writing the longer you write? Why is that important to you?
Yeah I feel that my writing skills have improved after I started blogging. I am sure every blogger will feel the same. The growth can be attributed to the basic thirst to prove oneself amidst fellow bloggers. Being a lawyer writing skills are very important for me. As they say ‘Speaking’ and ‘Writing’ are the bread and butter to us.
I’m wondering what some of your memorable experiences are with blogging?
There are so many memorable experiences in blogging. If you could give me one edition of yours I will pen it down all for you (with 10% discount in my fees). Just kidding, I am too lazy to do that. I would say the friends I have got through my blogs, the little arguments, the little bashing, everything is memorable.
What do you do in order to keep up your communication with other bloggers?
Comments, Comments, Comment… Those nasty little arguments there keep the bonding forever. I also add them in my Gtalk and YM to keep the personalised touch with them.
What do you think is the most exciting or most innovative use of technology in politics right now?
You would expect me to say its blogs, but I would say its SMS, for blogs you need a laptop or a PC and an Internet connection to get connected and check it up, there is no assurance that the targeted group will read it. But with SMS anyone can be reached and there is assurances that the targeted group will atleast bother to read it before deleting it. With mobile phones being the electronic organ of the human body in this era, I say it’s the most innovative use of technology in Politics right now. Mr Obama used it and I am also planning to use it when I contest for the US Presidential Post.
Do you think that these new technologies are effective in making people more responsive?
I see various online forums where the social discussions are carried out, few are quite interesting and few are quite dumb. But this shows that not only intellects have become responsive but also the not so intelligentsias have also become responsive. This is good for the developing countries like Pakistan and India. Once the people start questioning, our great politicians will be in their place.
What do you think sets Your site apart from others?
It’s my writing, because I don’t write in other blog sites. Ok ok… now don’t give that murderous look. It’s the topics I blog in. I never plan my next blog while I am writing one. Many readers have told me it’s really hard to guess what you will be writing next in “One of a Kind”. It’s true because even I don’t know what I am going to write next.
If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?
The secret of my success in life is my superpowers of flying, invisibility, fire emitting bracelets, laser emitting eyes…oops this is not about my superpowers, I would say my ability to stand up every time I fall as one characteristic which has brought success in life.
What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?
Happiest is every moment in my life and gloomiest would be the time when I sit for my exams. I hate exams and studying. (You asked for one but I have many)
If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?
- Spain (the entire country) – I love this country, culture, food and most importantly Girls.
- Venice – The beautiful Venice, I want to go there definitely for my honeymoon.
- Austria – Again for the country and girls.
What is your favorite book and why?
Harry Potter series- Many think it’s a children’s book, but according to me it’s one book which changed my life. It taught me the power I can possess “to love and to be loved in return”. It also taught me the philosophy of life time, “Whatever will happen will happen and you have to face it when it does” Hail JKR.
What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?
It’s the attitude and the way they carry themselves. Both can be noticed in one look.
Is there anyone from your past that once told you you couldn’t write?
There is not one but many,
- My Mom – When I was in LKG she said I cannot write those big sentences she wrote then, she said I have to grow up to write them;
- My crushes in school days – One girl dutifully corrected my love letter to her (each line had at least 10 mistakes) and returned it back to me with a “Learn to write first” note;
- My classmates – Asked me to stop killing English when I text them as they said I cannot write English;
- My Professors – After valuating my mid semester papers in law school, they said I cannot write anything properly;
- My friends – Asked me to stop blogging as they found it very boring when I started.
How bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?
I have not thought about it yet, but I heard somewhere about google’s adsense and stuffs like that. May be tomorrow I will publish all my blogs as a book, that might earn me a booker prize along with a case award.
Is it true that who has a successful blog has an awful lot of time on their hands?
It’s not true, for instance even if I have awful lot of time on my hands I can never be a successful blogger as I am a lazy guy. The way one utilises the free time effectively matters more than the time available.
What role can bloggers of the world play to make this world friendlier and less hostile?
It’s spreading love and affection. That’s the key, the world is full of diversities once you learn to appreciate the diversities then there will be no differences in the world and world will become friendlier. With this in mind I am posting a series in my blog called “Mythology - is it a myth or reality?” where I chart out the similar stories in different myths and finish it with a social message emphasizing on unity.
Who are your top five favourite bloggers?
That’s a difficult question as I cannot just list out the 5 of my favourite organs in my body and leave out the rest. Just go to the list of bloggers I follow all of them are my favourites.
Is there one observation or column or post that has gotten the most powerful reaction from people?
It’s my recent blog titled “A Slumdog’s letter to AMPAS & fellow Slumdog Indians…” [http://lancelot-oneofakind.blogspot.com/2009/03/slumdogs-letter-to-ampas-fellow-slumdog.html]. It’s my take on the movie Slumdog Millionaire. I received mixed reviews of both bashing and hailing. I was quite amazed how the minds of the people work/react. I felt the movie shows the Developed nations attitude towards Developing Nations.
What is your perception about Pakistan and its people?
The next country I support in any form of sports after India is Pakistan. I feel though we are partitioned we still have the umbilical connections between us. We are still the brothers and sisters who fought against the Britishers for the freedom of the country. I am sure if we were not partitioned then, we would be together the super power in the world.
Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger?
Every blogger is unique. I am stunned every time I see a post in the blogs I follow. It’s quite amazing to see how someone came up with such a post when I cannot think about it in those lines. Human brain is the best creation of God.
What is the most striking difference between a developed country and a developing country?
The most striking difference is in Developed Nations you have good leaders, in Developing Nations you have good people.
What is the future of blogging?
I never predict about future. I leave it to the astrologers to do.
You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?
Not much of a change, I actually find it as a stress reliever and a pass time activity from my stressful job.
What are your future plans?
Born in a small town of Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu, India. I completed my law degree at Chennai and now working with a law firm in Singapore. Mom is a doctor, Dad passed away when I was 12. I have one younger sister who is doing law as well. Apart from blogging I also do theatre (acting, directing, scripting), Fashion Designing, Astrology, Photography. I am a typical Sagittarian with all the weirdness and eccentricity. Please refer to the first question, I live for the moment, so no plans for the future as of now. I blog here.
Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?
Never fight in the name of God, even he will not like it. Never support terrorism for any cause, its not an Indian or Pakistani or an American who is killed but it’s a fellow Human who is killed. Believe in LOVE – the most powerful weapon on earth. I also would like to thank The Pakistani Spectator for this opportunity and wish everyone reading this and who are not reading this a very peaceful and amazing life ahead.
