By The Pakistani Spectator • Jul 10th, 2008 • Category: Interviews • No Responses

I’m Karna, living in the city of Chennai, capital of state Tamil Nadu in South India. I’ve been involved with the US Medical Billing vertical for more than ten years now and as a simple contribution to the Healthcare BPO industry, I’m currently hosting the following two blogs.

Healthcare BPO News - Compiled by Karna in Blogger at the URL http://healthcarebponews.blogspot.com/

Healthcare BPO - News compiled by Karna in Wordpress at the URL http://healthcarebpo.wordpress.com/

Have answered all the Interview Questions that you sent to me, please find the answers below:

Would you please tell us something about you and your site?

I’m Karna from Chennai, India and I’m in the Healthcare BPO industry for about 10 years now. With an idea of having an open channel of communication with people in the BPO industry, especially the Healthcare domain, have created these blogs titled Healthcare BPO - News compiled by Karna’ in Wordpress at the URL http://healthcarebpo.wordpress.com/ and Healthcare BPO News - Compiled by Karna in Blogger at the URL http://healthcarebponews.blogspot.com/, to enable people from different parts of the world who are involved in a similar industry to share any news, views, articles, information, ideas, thoughts and knowledge related to the industry… Both the blogs will have the same content with the applicable looks and feel of the templates empowered by Wordpress and Blogger respectively. Currently, I’m using my blogs to collate and compile news articles related to the BPO industry, especially Healthcare, from different sources in the internet.

Do you feel that you continue to grow in your writing the longer you write? Why is that important to you?

Yes, I do. It’s obvious that the best way to develop your writing skills is to keep writing in a simple manner until you are comfortable and confident enough to create your own writing style, then proceed writing in your own style. But, to achieve success, you need to be your best critic. Though, I’ve not written much in my current blogs so far, due to time constraints, I do have plans to launch new blogs and do it.

I’m wondering what some of your memorable experiences are with blogging?

I’m still fresh with blogging and there is a lot more to explore in it…

What do you do in order to keep up your communication with other bloggers?

Till now, I never had the chance or need to communicate with other bloggers, but probably, if there is a need I would read their posts in their blogs, comment on them and even e-mail them.

What do you think is the most exciting or most innovative use of technology in politics right now?

EFT - Electronic Fund Transfer (As you mentioned ‘in politics’)

Do you think that these new technologies are effective in making people more responsive?

Of course, yes.

What do you think sets Your site apart from others?

Collation and compilation of related news articles are completely done manually by me. Unlike many other blogs, there is no automated search and post involved in my blog. So, there is a ‘Human Feel‘ to it.

If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?

Honesty blended with Sincerity and Straightforwardness. Can’t say these really brought success in my life as these characteristic features don’t seem to hold any value in today’s world, but still, I’m reluctant to shed them.

What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

Happiest moment in my life is when I married my wife Vanaja. I’ve not seen the gloomiest moment yet and there is no intention of seeing it soon too.

If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?

Antarctica, Sahara and Switzerland. There are numerous places in my country India, but as the choices are limited, these would be my top 3 choices.

What is your favorite book and why?

Thirukkural‘ - authored by Thiruvalluvar, a celebrated Tamil poet. The book is a classic in Tamil, written about 2000 years ago and is a well known ethical work in Tamil literature. It covers every aspect of life in short poems of two lines and has been translated into a number of languages of the World.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?

Self-presentation.

Is there anyone from your past that once told you you couldn’t write?

None.

How bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?

By posting interesting, informative, influencing & useful content about any particular subject which is appealing to the readers, by monetising the blog using various ad services found in the internet and by marketing the blog through various sources.

Is it true that who has a successful blog has an awful lot of time on their hands?

Yes, of course. Time plays a crucial role in the success of anything.

What role can bloggers of the world play to make this world more friendlier and less hostile?

Bloggers need to have a coherent communication surpassing the boundaries of country, language, culture and social beliefs to make it possible.

Who are your top five favourite bloggers?

I’ve not considered many as my favorite bloggers, but the following two people can come under the category ‘Favorite Bloggers‘ because of their blogs.

Dr Deane Waldman - http://thesystemmd.com/?page_id=2
Darren Rowse - http://www.problogger.net/about-problogger/

Is there one observation or column or post that has gotten the most powerful reaction from people?

Though the question seems to be addressed in general, I take this question as directed towards my blog since it’s asked to me. I have to say that posts with opinions made on outsourcing by the US political leaders during their campaign this election year have attracted very good attention from the Asian readers. All posts with news articles of crime, controversies, scandals or scams related to healthcare in the US, have recieved an almost equal level of response from the US readers.

What is your perception about Pakistan and its people?

In spite of all the geographical, cultural and political differences, I’ve seen Pakistan only as India’s neighbour. All these differences should be treated only as those between two best friends and nothing more than that. Also, I don’t see many dissimilarities between the people of Pakistan and India. So, whatever the political leaders of both nations think, feel or say, the people have to stay united and just ignore them.

Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger?

I happened to read one of the articles posted by Dr Deane Waldman in his own blog Medical Malprocess and have started to like his brave and honest opinions about the US Healthcare System which he says is ‘the sickest patient’. His opinions come out of his professional experience as a Pediatric Cardiologist for over thirty years and also from his Management background.

What is the most striking difference between a developed country and a developing country?

Economy, of course. Beyond that, the sincerity shown towards strategic planning and successful execution of any work. This is really where the developing nations lag behind.

What is the future of blogging?

Looks bright and good. Every blogger paves way for a new blogger as today’s readers turn into tomorrow’s bloggers…

You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?

Currently, I utilize only the available free time for blogging and I’ve been very careful that it doesn’t affect my personal life in any way. Professionally, ‘Blogging’ and the response that I’ve got through it, has given me great confidence to launch new blogs with more contents written by me.

What are your future plans?

As I’ve already mentioned, I have plans to start blogs with contents written by me. Those blogs will be very much informative and useful for people in the Healthcare BPO industry.
