First of all thanks to you PakSpectator, that you let me to deliver myself at your platform. I hope that people will find this as nice as the other interviews at TPS. I am male with 27 of age and location L Emirates/British Airways. Computer Science Graduate. Currently working with a multinational organization as a consultant. About me, that’s all folks.
Could you tell us what made you decide to blog, and what was the inspiration behind it?
I have been visiting the blogs frequently for a long time and shared my comments and now decided to have a blog to share my experiences and thoughts in detail, in my own way. Got a group of people who wanted and promised me to join and run the blog if setup the http://www.dufferistan.com. Moreover I wanted to have the views of other people over my thoughts; I want to sanitize my thinking by filtering through others ideas.
What do you think sets your blog apart from other blogs?
I’ll not say that I have a unique idea implemented at my blog but readers write that I express words in a manner, they love to read.
If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?
Everything is with the grace of Allah, who provided me with Will Power and property of never to lose my head.
What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?
There have been many, I am so much graced by Allah that I can’t count his blessings. What I can’t forget is my admission in a reputed university of Pakistan, and when I realized that I am in love J
Urdu Blogs have got huge potential, when do you think they will really take on the online horizon in Pakistan?
Urdu bloggers (UB) are no doubt doing a great job to take the UB in a taxi position; it’s not as early that we’ll see UBs dog fighting in internet horizons. But definitely a test flight will be in near future, insha Allah.
If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?
1. I would love to spend my first leg of worriless holidays journey at Gilgit Deosai plains of Pakistan
2. The other I would select will be French island Bora Bora Paradise
3. The third will be the Macao, China
Everywhere with my love SD (she is no more)
What is your favorite book and why?
I used to read digests too much, I liked their fascinating stories for an era, but since when I read Gul-e-Nokhez Akhtar’s novel titled “Taien Taien Fish”, this novel became my all time favorite so far, and the reason is the best portrayal of expressions and feelings in a fantastic humorous way. The online version of book can be downloaded from http://www.kitaabghar.com/
What are your favorite meal, dress, and sport?
Daal chawal, casual and cricket
What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?
Manners, the way to talk and intelligence
Whose Future is brighter in Pakistan; English blogs or Urdu Blogs?
You can’t say anything about anything’s future, especially when you talk about Pakistan.
The most discouraging thing to Urdu bloggers has been (and I think still) unfriendly keyboard layout, fonts and the overall environment they are provided with for blogging. Though a lot of work has been done and going on by Urdu lovers to tackle with the problem and they have been succeeded in this, with still a long way to go. At the moment there is no comparison of both but what if any thunder visits Urdu Blogging as visited to our mobile industry and some other fields? You know when we FOCUS on something we toss out rest.
How Pakistani bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?
If a blogger starts a blog coz he/she needs to be benefited financially from the blog, then I will advise not to blog. A blog initially is totally for fun, you satisfaction and to establish yourself as a good quality blogger. And good enough that people wait for your postings. If you achieve above all then you are in a position to pluck the flowers.
More readers base more advertisement, more doors to your words are opened and this all is paying.
Do you think Pakistani bloggers tend to remain somewhat self-centered and really don’t go out of their shells? Is it the oriental style of blogging, or they are still unsure about it?
You might have noticed this features in Pakistani bloggers because an over whelming majority of Pakistani’s has neither been able to express their feelings or the shyness that our society has imposed on them since they opened their eyes, didn’t let them to be straight forwarders of their feelings. But to me, this stage does not seem to last long enough. Young generation is out spoken as compared to ancestors, and the major portion of Pakistani bloggers is our youngsters.
What do you think where the Pakistani blogosphere is right now?
Realistically speaking, not mature enough to contest with the outer world. Generally blogging is a common person fun or hobby and the very important element of blogging is nice internet bandwidth, which luckily most portion of our population has got just now.
So optimism is there with respect to future.
Who are your top five favorite bloggers in Pakistan?
GM Khawar, Hasan Mujtaba, Ghazala, Adil Najam, Iftikhar Ajmal, Owais Moghal, Badtameez, Mawra, Khokhar, Rahbar, Naeem, Zamima and of course some others.
Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger in Pakistani blogosphere?
Yes, GM Khawar has done a great job with Urdu blogging. I won’t say that he has rolled out a complete specimen for Urdu bloggers but the strength of his words does grasp the reader’s attention. People whom he wants to focus do read his posts
What is the future of blogging in Pakistan?
In Pakistan I have noticed people with great interest towards blogging any many are getting injected into blogosphere every day. If I see myself, my surroundings and the UB community + the UB readers, I see an overall interest building in Urdu blogging. Many youngsters are willing to join Urdu bloggers community every passing day. But the fact I would remind that the uneasiness with Urdu keyboard layouts and lack of universal Urdu font’s availability is really a hurdle in attracting more and more Urdu bloggers. Once the problem is solved we’ll see a major upward drift in our UB cosine wave.
You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?
It has affected me a lot; I have started sharing my problems, confusions and experiences. Get sincere feedbacks and advises from readers.
Blogging just makes me relaxed, even though I don’t do any of above.
What are your future plans?
Who knows?
Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?
TPS has so many viewers base, especially the young generation, and I would love to share a message with them that after watching closely and analyzing the outer world I have never got the feeling that there is a place better than Pakistan to live in. Pakistan is The Most Blessed country in this world. We have got everything a nation needs to progress and progress by leaps and bounds. But one more thing we have got is not to take responsibility, we need to take the responsibility except having a thinking “what others do” and make ours and our descending generations’ future secure, sound and respected.
