Would you please tell us something about you?

My name is Ayesha Mehmood, I own a very small blog at www.ayesha.thalassemia.com.pk since July 2005… born and raised in Karachi since 1987…. working for ApniISP.com (Data-Entry stuff) since 2006, and helping brother in his good cause of acknowledging people about thalassemia at www.thalassemia.com.pk, being the youngest among 2 other brother/sister am the stubborn kid… spoilt brat…!

Could you tell us what made you decide to blog?

Okay this question has thrown me into Deep Ocean of many thoughts…, I couldn’t come to the answer but here is what I feel…I always wanted a friend who would listen to me and never complain about me being weird… although I have mom and Allah but still… so this is how my blog came into being…

What do you think sets Your blog apart from other blogs?

I don’t think there is anything special about my blog… just me being a Thalassemic and writing about Thalassemia and its issues… this might set my blog apart from other blogs.

If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success, what would it be?

Have I already got success? No, I still have a long way to go :)

What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

Happy when my brother was returning back to life… with full recovery *Thanks to Allah for that and ofcourse the prayers that made it happen : )*

Urdu Blogs have got huge potential, when do you think they will really take on the online horizon in Pakistan?

There are a lot of users who prefer to write English or Roman, only few people go for Urdu, for an example I being the laziest write roman most of the time… so its surely like when people would get serious and start writing their Mother Language then for sure we will be seeing every other blog in Urdu :)

If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?

Lol @ with no worries about how it’s paid for… will that happen too? Are you sponsoring me? Okay jokes apart…

Makka/Madina (Holy Cities), Makka/Madina (Holy Cities) and Makka/Madina (Holy Cities) yeah I don’t want to go anywhere else… when you sending me the visa and ticket?

What is your favorite book and why?

Except course books I haven’t read any book, and if I have then it was Love Story by Erich Segal.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?

Way of speaking, attitude, behavior

Do you think Pakistani politicians could benefit from the social networks and things like twitter?

I know nothing about politics, I speak nothing about politics, I hear nothing about politics, yeah that’s how I am.

Whose Future is more bright in Pakistan; English blogs or Urdu Blogs?

Both of them have its own value and place.., so both are going to have bright future.

Do you think Pakistani bloggers tend to remain somewhat self-centered and really don’t go out of their shells? Is it the oriental style of blogging, or they are still unsure about it?

No, they move around whatever they get their hand on…

Is it true that who has a successful blog has an awful lot of time on their hands?

I was a regular blogger in the start… but when I started working for ApniISP I couldn’t get time to blog, but still I try to blog twice in 15 days… and when ever I get time I write… so that doesn’t mean those who have a successful blog has lots of time… no they don’t have :), its simply about who they manage their personal, professional and blog life :)

Does it pain you or proud you that we have made a history by electing a uniform general as our president?

I haven’t elected him, so I can’t be blamed hehe

What do you think where the Pakistani blogosphere is right now?

Pakistani blogsphere has a long way not very long but still a long way to reach the destination; bloggers are backing up themselves to get there :)

Who are your top five favourite bloggers in Pakisan?

I can’t call them favorite… but I do read them regularly…, don’t mind if I mention more than 5, and remember they are not my favorite I just read them:

Asma - http:/asmaeomagom/

H. - http://www.hinstance.com/

Mansoor - http://wordofmansoor.com/

MB - http://voiceofthepast.wordpress.com/

Qadeer - http://bayaaz.com/blog

Saadat - http://ultaseedha.com.pk/

Uncle Ajmal - http://iabhopal.wordpress.com/ - http://iftikharajmal.urdutech.com/

Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger in Pakistani blogosphere?

Myself… because of the issue am writing for and the knowledge am sharing about Thalassemia

What is the future of blogging in Pakistan?

It is surely not dark, its bright as a white suit washed in surf excel hehe

Can Pakistani blogosphere play any notable role in the forthcoming elections, if they happen at all?

Same as above I answered: I know nothing about politics, I speak nothing about politics, I hear nothing about politics, yeah that’s how I am.

You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?

It has taught me many things which am following in my personal life, professionally it has given me more sense to talk and speak with different peoples… and yes… it has given me lots of friends who cry, smile, laugh and pray with me and my posts :)

What are your future plans?

This is something I can’t answer before time… I don’t think about future before time…, weird? That’s how I am :)

Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?

Quoted from my own blog: never stop praying namaz, no can be a great friend other than Allah, tell your problems, your tension to HIM, no one will know your problems/tensions and no one will make fun of your pain, be scared of HIM not of people, in the end,

Which then of the bounties of your lord shall you deny – Surah e Rehman

  2. Glad to read your interview, personally i respect and admire salman and ayesha’s devotion for the noble cause. May God help you and keep you safe…

  3. My first interaction with this little girl on Undernet Pakistan channel(on IRC) more than 5 years back. At that time she was an infant. Also I didn’t know about her illness.

Both Ayesha and Salman(her brother) are talented and courageous kids and they never made others feel that they are ill. May Allah bless them-Ameen.

p.s: I have one complain that she sends lots of Notices(Invite/Add application) notices on Facebook and I always wonder how come she comes across so many facebook apps each day? :-) *kidding*

  4. Ayesha is really good with all this, she’s like a sister to me and all my wishes are with her.

  9. nice Ayesha ! :)

  10. Hey, it’s our cute little Ayesha!

  11. Very professional and confident stance of the interviewee shows the selector’s great decision making power of whom to interview. Interesting thing about the blogger is her consistency in maintaining the blog and making it longlife. What makes me happy is her endeavour for setting up the blog and now joining the IT party. Lesson to be learned : Stand And Walk Tall !
