Hush the Barking Dog

By Talal Hussain Malik • Sep 17th, 2008 • Category: Misc, Worth A Second Look • (4,382 views) • 13 Comments

‘BARKING dogs seldom bite’, but seldom they do bite. A sane person would never suggest taking a risk, so better take precautionary measures while you come across a barking dog.

History speaks of the plight that the allies and friends of the US of A have met. The USA has been directly and indirectly forwarding threats of attacking our homeland_ attacking an ally in the war against terrorism. The USA has made its intentions pretty clear. That they have the same policy on cards for Pakistan as is for Afghanistan should serve as an eye opener and make us realize where we stand. Our previous governments were subdued to the pressure exerted by the USA government and in utter allegiance gave it the status of the sacred cow. If standing tall against the USA was never advisable then where do we stand now having rendered all the services? Or, again, would it make a difference if we kept on cooperating with them and would it ensure peace, stability and respect for our nation?

General Kyani has finally broken the ice and has made it clear that no foreign aggression would be allowed within the Pakistani territory. If Kyani be resolute in his stance, the government would be left with the choice of either siding with the army or the old friend. I would leave it for the readers to make their own perception of this situation but I hold the view that it is always better to die with honour than live in utter disgrace, that it is better to die once than dying every other day. In the words of great Tipu Sultan, ‘A lion’s life of one day is better than a jackal’s life of hundred days.’

Yes Mr Talal, they didn’t find WMD, haven’t captured any terror in so called war on terror, now to control their thirst the only target remains is their allies to prove their selfishness, as they destroy their dummies when their advantage is over. Who knows what designs are under all these games.

I agree absolutely especially with the last few lines A lion’s life of one day is better than a jackal’s life of hundred days. But do remember we have a lot of jackals in our ranks and those jackals include a lot of so called intellectuals, defence analysts etc.

It has always been Allah’s help and not the so called weapon and armory and technology, economy for that matter that has enabled muslims to defeat a thousand times stronger enemies.I think its high time that we quit this cowardly way of living and stand up against the evil but really that requires a lot of guts a lot of “Emaan” which we as a nation have lost. Lets pray for that.

I am sure either there would be no comments from the regular ones Or if there are any those would be critical of these comments and there would be a lot of justifications for surrendering or even suporting the “Do more” notion.

Anyways As Iqbal said” Agarchay But hain Jamaat ki Aasteenoun mein Mujhay hay Hukm-e-Azan La ILA HA ILLALLAH.

Just when you have said that Mr. Kashif….today I was in a rage to read the statement of our foreign minister that appeared time and again on different TV channels. It said, “USA had not pre-informed us about the missile attack.” If the FM could read this…Dear sir, USA is not your Mama jee who would tell you that he was going to send you a gift with love.
Why do we always have —–up (use the F word here) people for such important posts?

You must ensure your survival; if you are there, there will be times to prove yourself. First you have to consolidate yourself; look at the Germans and the Jpanese, even your model the Chinese (they took lot of nonsense, but concentrated on their consolidation. For me personally - A living dog is better, much, much better than a dead lion.

Very right MR ASA “A living dog is better, much, much better than a dead lion.” plz add some words from me at the end of this sentence, “if fed by the food provided by its owner not neibhours”

    Aftab S. Alam Says:

Sir, life must have precedence over death; if it was not so our Prophet would not have done that treaty and compromised when the need was felt. If dying was that great an achievement, I would tend to think that our religion would have advised to commit suicide when threatend. But, of course, you don’t have to agree with me and are free to do what suits your temperament.

I would not be too disturbed if you as my friend or neighbor would feed my dog and keep him alive because my living dog is much better than a dead no a dozen dead lions. By the way, that’s what friends are for to be there when a friend is in need.

But when it comes to protect you, your dog will not protect you from me.

    Aftab S. Alam Says:

Do you think you depend on your dog for protection? Why must you always worry about protection? Why this persecution mania?

“…..your dog will not protect you from me.” (Farid Masood)

Good thing. You said it! Right, we need protection from eachother! and that’s why for me my enemy’s enemy is my dear friend and I want him to do a good job on my enemy.

‘Barking dogs seldom bite’; it must be the saying of some old good days; when even ‘dogs’ used to have some considerations. But can you really trust the dogs? That when they stop barking and start biting.

While discussing friendship matters with America; this should be kept in mind that in USA books; there are; no Friends or Enemies; just (US) Interests’; says Henry Kissinger.

Our Rehman Malik must be knowing it, but still then he is blind towards his assignments.

    Talal Hussain Malik Says:

Mr. Aftab S Alam sahab. Our Holy Prophet’s (SAW) approach was always the most appropriate approach that a man could ever practice. He did the right thing by not going to war but the Muslims of that time were living honorably. The treaty that out Holy Prophet (SAW) entered into bore its fruit, but do you see any positive change in scenario for the country if we kept silent? I highly doubt that.

    Aftab S. Alam Says:

Malik Sahab, the only point I am trying to bring to your attention is that, in my view, an individual as well as a nation owes itself the spririt of self-preservation. The attitude of a winner, there are set backs in any struggle and that’s the time to realign and reconsolidate yourself. This gives you a reason to continue and a hope for tomorow; all this talk about jackals and lions are depressive thoughts and sign of defeatism and despair. The reason I spoke about that historical ‘compromise’ was to emphasize the importance of living with hope rather than die hopelessly, since you agree that the prophet’s approach was “most appropriate” then I suppose the example is worth emulating.

P.s.: By the way even this Tipu proved more of a fox than a lion when in campaign and you know that.
