First Session of Assembly

While the Constitution Avenue becomes the “red zone” barring almost everyone except the 334 newly-elected members out of 342-member seat of lower house, outgoing Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain is bickering over the petty question of whether the members will take oath under the Constitution as it existed before the Nov 3 emergency or the one as amended by President Musharraf under his emergency powers in his now abandoned position of chief of the army staff to protect his actions such as a Provisional Constitution Order used to sack the judges.

The first session of the assembly would be brief, and if you are naive enough like me and thinking that just after this session suicide bombers would stop and the prices of food items and oil will drop down like never before, then wakep up nothing is going to happen.

We don’t even know who will be the speaker and deputy speaker of our national assembly and then who is going to the head-sailor of this country in the Prime Minister ship. The resolution to the crisis will perhaps come later.

Hi, Be patient. Democracy is slow and freedom to breath and criticise can become routine.Savour the freedom slowly. Everything will fall into place.
