First Among Equals
By Rohail Butt • Jun 19th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 2 CommentsThere are some facts which we need to tightly remember and which we need to, rather have to swallow. Taliban are not going to be defeated in just one summer and United States is not going to leave this part of Asia anytime sooner. Russia, China, Saudi Arabia and Iran will continue to support various factions in the FATA area of Pakistan, and Pakistan Army will remain engaged in the gorilla war against the Taliban.
The current situation is going to last for a long time. This can only get worst. The worst in the sense that United States would perhaps resort to the Cambodia Model if our troops fail to wipe out the Taliban from our areas. Many other powers don’t want to see army succeed in that, and a mutli-pronged proxy war will go on for a long time.
As the current Pakistani government has time and again proved it’s inability and incapacity to deal with the matters at hand profressionaly, seriously and properly, the only man who looks in charge and composed and in control is the army chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani. Either our politicos need to get their act together or ultimately this so-called democratic farce would be rolled back in a jiffy.
