Enough for Coalition

By Rohail Butt • Jul 23rd, 2008 • Category: Politics • No Responses

The languishing coalition between PML-N and PPP with the minor partners of JUI-F and ANP, and also MQM in Karachi is going no where, and as PML-N, JUI-F and ANP have already conveyed their dismay over the monopoly of PPP over the decision making, a new wave of mistrust has swept between PPP and MQM as a key leader of PPP Khalid Shahanshah has been murdered in broad day light in Karachi.

The indecisive and cajoling approach of the co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, Asif Ali Zardari has now put the country back to it’s aura of gloom and despair where it stood before 18th February, and now it’s not a matter of the popularity graph or public standing rather this is putting the national morale at stake.

After the mandate of 18th February, nation wanted a change. Nation’s demands were crystal clear: restoration of deposed judges, ouster of Pervez Musharraf, change of policy on war on terror, and a clear road map to solve the shortages of flour, power and other commodities. The PPP has done nothing whatsoever in regards of the above demands, and now nation is finding itself in even more dire condition.

PML-N has done right to give the deadline of 15th August to PPP for the clear cut decision on these issues. They have also done well to not to give much weightage to the upcoming conference of coalition partners, as numerous such conferences and meetings have happened before without any result, and they are just an excuse to elongate the matter for the time gain.
