Durrani’s Problem

By Ali Yar Khan • Jul 5th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 7 Comments

Pervaiz Musharraf weakened the foundations of Pakistan by murdering Nawab Akbar Bugti, and now his most salivating slave, Muhahmmad Ali Durrani is trying to give a second blow to the country by presenting a contrived and fantastic idea at such a time, when unity is needed most among the provinces.

Talking about making Seraiki province out of Punjab is not just another wild figment of imagination on the part of this former minister of information, who doesn’t separate out black from the white. This tells us the way some international forces are working their way to create unrest and chaos in all the parts of Pakistan. Making most of Southern Punjab a new province is very alarming, as all the pundits are pointing out that next target of terrorists could be this aera. Interior minister has already revealed that more than 5000 terrorists have slipped into South Punjab from FATA and Swat. So called Punjabi Taliban have their origin from this area.

Durrani’s suggestion is aimed at making a re-entry in the politics, but it is sure that his talking the words of someone else. Though no political or social group has given much importance to his suggestion so far, it is quite likely that unrest would be fanned on this base in the near future. For example, the Punjabi Taliban stand up and start promising people that they are there to fight for their rights. Intelligence agencies must take hold of Durrani and ask some tough questions.

  1. In fact Pervez Musharraf saved Pakistan by eliminating Bugti. Without going in details of his activities which are too many and too horrendous, I urge the present government to keep a close eye on the so called evil plan to liberate Baluchistan by the bugti clan.

As far as formation of new provinces is concerned, it is high time to have more provinces not only in Punjab but other provinces as well to bring harmony to the present chaos.

  2. There is no harm in creating more provinces. But I think instead of calling them province we should call them divisions. But to be fair to all there should be a law clearly stating that a population of certain number on a certain demographic line will automaticaaly stand to be acknowleged as a division. What I am trying to say here is no one at present or in future should be allowed to bifurcate the law or boundries for his or her own political gains. Also all divisions should have a system to be reimbursed from the fedreal tax income on the baises of its revenue collection. All the development work should be in accordance with the tax collection, It should not be decided on the baises of where the present PM or President hails from. One should not forget it is all about money. So where it comes from it need to be spent there first. If Sialkot or Kasur or Haiderabad have an input in federal tax revenue their development should reflect that in all sector of life may it be a school or a hospital.

  3. Agrees with Nasir M. Aijaz. President Musharraf is an unsung hero!

  4. Historically, Punjab is never been a province. Its just a name for a region made into a province by our former British rulers. Naturally, there is a need for more provinces, more provincial autonomy

  5. Decentralization of power always helps improve lives of people!
