Democracy & The System of Government
By The Pakistani Spectator • May 11th, 2007 • Category: Politics • (196 views) • 7 CommentsWe often heard people saying that west has the democratic system of government (a proven one). It is a right quote though but the actual essence of democracy is taught by the only religion, which is ‘ISLAM’.
Islam being the only religion teaches us about the rule of law & justice. People have the right to ask even the ruler (president or prime minister) about any issues related to the country, masses or the individuals. In teachings of Islam a leader should lead in Friday congregation so that he should mingle with the general public to hear their problems, views and take instant decisions for the betterment of the mankind around him. We have practical examples of real democracy in our Islamic history. We can witness the rule of The Caliph Umar. His personality is matchless till the end of the World. He used to answer all question raised upon him by the general public in the day (even that ‘After a war, remaining of retreating foe army was collected and distributed amongst the Muslim army. Some pieces of cloth was in that. An old lady saw the Caliph Umar wearing that cloth. She asked him “Umar the piece of cloth given to you not enough that you can have a shirt of that”, in response the Caliph’s son replied that I have given my share to my father so he can get a complete shirt) and at night, He used to walk through the streets (in disguise) to hear the problems of people and to rectify at the spot. People were astonished when they are provided solution for their problem. He was well aware of the safety of his state & people in it. He was administratively strong too. To raise funds for government’s expanses a system of taxation was introduced and implemented by him. He was the ruler of a vast state having a non-aggressive approach and a sound foreign policy.
To address the problems of general public is the basic responsibility of a ruler and his intraction with the public describes the system of government. In dictatorship or other setup of government are not much concerned about the rights of citizens of that state. I this era leaders in our world only tell what they are doing but do not listen what majority wants.
After the independence of India & Pakistan, Mr Gandhi was asked that what type of system of government you want in India. He replied, ”India wants second Umar”.
Being Muslim we are far behind to have a real democracy, which should be an example for others.

This is a joke, isn’t it?
So Islam, the most oppressive and intolerant religion on the planet is now the essence of democracy.
Here is a religion where women are second class citizens (only slightly better of than the third class citizens, the infidels) and people write stupid things like this.
Perhaps you may have noticed, just maybe, that human rights and democracy are concepts absent in almost all Islamic societies. Maybe you should ask why… Think about it.
I don’t really know which is worse, the writer or people who make comments those like above.

We showed tolerance in Abu Gharib, John? Did we show tolerance after 9/11? How could we preach tolerance, of all people?
You think women is independent in west? Utterly, Ridiculous. Ask me, I have lived US and UK for better part of my life and been there, done that, know ins and outs.

It is not so, Our problem (Islamic Societies) is that we don’t follow exact teachings. We also know that what happens (in so called claimers of the women rights) with women in elevators when light goes off. What is happening is Guantanamo bay. I can qoute many examples like that. Islam is the complete religion Said by The God Himself. What better than us have you in your societies is the teachings of Allah and His Prophets.
