Culmination of Long March : Defeat of Musharraf
By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Jun 20th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 11 CommentsAll those months of the lawyers movement are the harbingers of the good days. The valour and the willingness shown by the lawyers throughout this movement is the testimony of the haywire passion of this brave nation, who eventually has stood up for the cause of democracy and the justice. They way the lawyers have responsibly conducted themselves before, during and after the long march tells the story of the nobility of their cause and the story of their aloof destination.
Many people are harping about the fact that a sit-in after the long march would have a right strategy. The fact is had the leadership of the lawyers called for the “dharna”, not more than 10,000 people would have opted for that due to the molten roads in the heat of June and due to the unavailability of water, food and toilets. Besides, it would have given ample chance to the forces of status quo to ignite some untoward violent incident from within the sit-in, and the people like Rehman Malik were ready for that.
The ocean of people traveled from Karachi to Khyber and not a leaf was torn apart. Nothing happened and the long march reached to its destination without any accident or law and order situation. Had there been any violence, the authorities would have repeated the images of yester regime, in which the batons, tear gas and aerial firing were the tool to be applied on lawyers, media and other protesters.
This would have given Pervez Musharraf a straw to cling to and he must have used that to harp in front of his Western masters to tell them that how unmanageable Pakistan has become, and how much inevitable he is for the smooth running of the affairs of the state. This would have snatched the moral high ground from the lawyers. But due to the sagacity of the lawyers leadership, that didn’t happen and it must have given an abject disappointment to Musharraf and his toadies.
Lawyers have surely put country before their selfs.

Lawyers movement has written a unique history and I am sure that ruling mafia along with his boss mussarf are cursing on ex PM for completely miscalculating the side effect of his unlawful proposal against CJP.Now he is back to his western den and all others are facing abusive language from common man. Atizaz before his march had already claimed that people shouldn accepted a bloody coup from such movement as they are keeping the mission alive on the basis of peace and patience. They are lawabiding personalities and if they behave like Mush then there would be no line of difference between democracy norms and acts of dictatorship.Mussarf ’s obstinate behaviour clearly indicates that he would nt leave the top seat in normal way. I hope our giant corrupt politician would find some abnormal way of getting rid of him and after that the actions of lawyers community would start and that is to make him accountable for his national crimes.
dear Nazia, you are great in comments. Your arrival on this web site is good and I welcome you on board. I’m not regular to comment but i like your comments because its voice of Pakistani. I hope you will keep your presence and will defend truth as few other my brothers are doing.
Yes, Nazia and Hina, I have also been the silent reader of this website for quite a time and have grown to like it a lot due to it’s candidly patriotic and rational approach. I also relish your comments a lot. You speak with authority and full control.
Nazia has always been very convincing and touching.
Through absurd logic and useless arguments with a heavy touch of personal animosity, truth cannot be held back for long. That is why some people are unfortunately nursing on this site. But Nazia your fresh outlook with magnanimously insightful reviews are great to read. Hina and Rubab, your inputs are also welcome. We need to carry on the torches of truth.
Keep it up Nazia and don’t care about few people, who always tries to support evils.
Falsehood is perishable because it is bound to perish, where as truth will prevail for ever. So keep supporting truth and facts. We all are with you too.

Nazia, since when two wrongs have started amounting to a right? You might want to say it in so many words what you understand by suggesting “some abnormal way to getting rid of him” . Hopefully, you are not recommending assissination of the President of Pakistan Mr. Pervaiz Musharraf. I mean disliking or even hating a peson, even if he happens to be Head of the State, is one thing but outright asking for such “abnormal” modes is a shocking obervation, especially when it is made by those who profess rule of law and justice. What I would have liked to read from your “great” admirers to point this out what you have written in the heat of the moment, but no looks like you spoke their thoughts.

Nawaz Sharif: A History Of Ingratitude
Mr. Sharif is not as innocent as he portrayed himself to be. If Mr. Sharif wants accountability, let’s open all the books.
By MIRZA ROHAIL BAIG
Saturday, 14 June 2008.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—If you are one of the Pakistanis who applauded former prime Nawaz Sharif when he addressed a crowd of deranged lawyers and paid hungry supporters – who turned the most expensive piece of property in the heart of Pakistan’s federal capital into an open air toilet last night, then you should know that Mr. Sharif is not as innocent as he portrayed himself to be.
This is a guy who went shopping in Washington DC for a U.S. $ 25,000 watch as brave Pakistanis died fighting for their honor in Kargil, a battle that Mr. Sharif ensured we lost because he was busy in a personal fight with the nation’s military leaders.
Mr. Nawaz Sharif’s record is so embarrassing that, in another country with educated voters, he would never be reelected by the people.
His record includes unforgettable lapses and mistakes, each of them worthy of an inquiry commission that could disqualify him for life:
1. This man declared emergency after the May 1998 Nuclear detonations. Under the pretext of sanctions, he swallowed up the nation’s $10 billion foreign reserves. No questions asked and no accountability since!
2. This man, Nawaz, siphoned off millions of dollars of the money collected under the ‘Qarz utaro mulk sanwaro’ scheme where he appealed to the Pakistani nation’s patriotism and asked everyone to donate money to pay off the national debt. No accountability so far!
3. This man was shopping for $25,000 Philip Patek watches in the United States when our brave soldiers were dying in Kargil. No shame!
4. This man built a 2000-acre Raiwind palatial complex for himself and his family when our nation was contributing to the ‘Qarz utaro mulk sanwaro’ scheme to pay off the national debt.
5. This man Nawaz is a PROTEGE of past military rulers who turned him from a dumb, Nehari-loving imbecile into a leader. General Imtiaz brought him from Dubai. General Jillani and General Zia-ul-Haq groomed him. Lt. Gen. Hameed Gul created for his an entire new political party, the IJI. Today he makes fun of the military. It says something about his character. He is an ungrateful person, someone we call EHSAAN FARAMOOSH in our language!
6. He is the first ruler in the history of Pakistan and maybe the world who ransacked the Supreme Court building and unleashed the private armed thugs on Shahbaz Sharif’s payroll as a private Sharif Militia and used them to stone the building of the Supreme Court and chase out its judges who dared to challenge his actions in 1997.
7. More than 80 complaints of corruption and misuse of authority were pending at different stages of inquiry, investigation and trial against former PM Nawaz Sharif when he was granted pardon by the president and went into a self-chosen exile. The complaint said Nawaz Sharif did not mention in his declaration of assets in the nomination form for NA-12 in 1997 that he owned a helicopter. It was alleged that he did not pay duties of Rs. 30 million on this machine. Don’t take my word for it, check this news story:
8. According to a report:
8.1 Rs. 1.5 billion loan was taken out by the Sharif brothers against the security of their company, Ittefaq Foundries
8.2 Rs. 302 million were obtained for Brothers Sugar Mills
8.3 Rs. 92 million for Brothers Textile
8.4 Rs. 392 million for Brothers Steel Mills
8.5 Rs. 102 million for Ramzan Sugar Mills and Khalid Siraj Textiles each
8.6 Rs. 385 million for Ittefaq Sugar Mills
8.7 Rs. 368 million for Ittefaq Textiles and
8.8 Rs. 239 million were loaned to Ittefaq Brother.
9. The Nawaz family which is now one of the richest in the country largely due to the largesse of Pakistani banks has unveiled its one billion rupee Raiwind Complex. Spread over an area of around a thousand acres it houses palatial residences, a 300 acre farm, a 500 bed hospital, a school, a medical teaching facility, 200 acre dairy farm, a 350 line telephone exchange, Polytechnic institute, Nursing and Midwifery school etc. The Sharifs who must really be minting money have built it all in 17 months at a cost of Rs 740 million. The Punjab government headed by a Sharif has chipped in by providing government-funded roads and forcibly purchasing land for papa Sharif.
10. Nawaz is currently Pakistan’s 4th RICHEST MAN in the list ‘Top 40 Richest Pakistanis’.
11. Nawaz has asked for Pakistan to open permanent border with India, VISA-FREE! Why doesn’t he simply call for making both one & same country? This way he’ll get an endless supply of Indian music DVDs that he so loves!
Finally, when Nawaz’s son was suspected of having blood cancer and needed treatment in London, Pervez Musharraf violated his own 10-year agreement with the Saudis and ordered the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh to provide the Sharifs with passports on humanitarian grounds.
Musharraf again put the exile agreement aside and helped Shahbaz Sharif get treatment in New York.
In comparison, Mr. Nawaz Sharif could have shown magnanimity and rise above petty revenge and address the real issues facing Pakistan, internally and in the region.

Mr Aftab,
I think, he is from your area and same blood

Thanks a lot to hina, minhas, rubab, prof khan and saleem for encouraging my particaption in this forum.I am also thnakful to aftab and dr raza about their bitter criticism on my encourager and my ideas. If people dont like my lines its their right but calling it like ill minded, insane and same thing is very easy job and it could be returned in this forum in a minutes but point of such discussions are to share the views and experience of each other and to be used in personal lives for iimproving the declining civic culture around us.Our system of governance wehther political or military has created havoc in our society and if we want to live here we have to hear and see its black areas with patience. One dacoity cant change my strong affiliation with my country but its my nature of probe and research that why these incidents happened and have been accpeted as part of anybody’s life.

Saleem Khan Says: June 21st, 2008 “Mr Aftab, I think, he is from your area and same blood”
Saleem Khan, the area that you call mine comprises some 1500 Sq. Miles which has a population of some 14 million people of one of the greatest diversity of people in Pakistan, making it the richest and most cosmopolitan centres in the country and region.
As afr as blood is concerned, yes, by the grace of Allah I am a human being and have human blood which is same like all the rest of human blood including “that guy’s” and hopefully yours. Do you know, that we humans have so many common traits and sameness that our differences are almost nill (research and studies of human genome suggests 99.9 % sameness ! so we are just about 1/10th of percent different - I am talking about humans assuming you belonging in the same group!).
Good day! Saleem Bhai.
Now! Nazia, let me give a tip. People who disagree with you and crticize your point of view are your best buddies. After all if we all were just applauding eachother on whatever our ideas and expresions were than how would we learn to develop a critical view of judging things from different perspective. In any even, if I have caused you any anxieties forgive me and say that my words are not welcome and I will stop saying anything. OK?
