Catch 22 - Time is Running Out

By Salman Mugsi • Jul 20th, 2008 • Category: Politics • No Responses

International Crisis Group has expressed its reservation that though the Army in Pakistan has decided to not to interfere in the state of the affairs managed by the government, and they have decided to not to derail the democratic process, but if political leader would keep on showing the slothful attitude then Army might decide to intervene.

Nawaz Sharif should also keep his word and make a final meeting with the chairman of Pakistan People Party and the current king maker of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and he should either make it or break it. The way the coalition government is being run by the empty slots in the federal cabinet, and solo flight of PPP in the national affairs like the war on terror, military operations, and other issues, and the way Punjab government is being run solely by the PML-N; the confusion is the order of the day, and there seems to be no government in sight, and nation is wondering.

PML-N is rigid on the restoration of the deposed judges and on the impeachment of the Pervez Musharraf without delay and without any strings, while PPP wants to keep Justice Dogar as the chief justice of Pakistan, and they also want to keep Musharraf as president up till March 2008, as part of their deal with America, which bestowed National Reconciliation Ordinance upon Zardari.

It seems Catch 22, and is only harming the people badly, so either both or one of them blink, or both should part.
