Carnage in Kurram Agency

(r) Junaid Zaman • Sep 7th, 2008 • Category: Politics • (4,095 views) • 2 CommentsTuri, Bangash and Mangal tribes are at each other’s throat in the restive Kurram Agency, which is adjacent to the North Waziristan and is not too far away from the bordering Afghanistan, where United States is just ready to take on the tribes directly without any mercy.
The ferocious conflict going on in the Kurram Agency is not some sort of operation raged by the Pakistani security forces, or it is not some sort of clandestine operation by the allied forces. They don’t have to do a thing, as tribes are cleansing each other with full liberty. More than thousand people have been killed in the Kurram Agency, alone in the last week, and the bloodshed is continuing.
This violence in the Kurram Agency is sectarian. The agency has literally divided into two parts and Shias and Sunnis have earmarked their own areas. The severe fighting is going on in the area coupled with the suicide attacks at each other. The Kurram Agency has now got two capitals, one is Parachinar and the other is Sadda. The Mangal Bagh, head of the banned Lashkar-e-Islam and de facto ruler of Khyber agency is also helping his favorite tribe, while the opponents have the support of the enemies of Mangal Bagh.
One wonders why Rehman Malik doesn’t recall the writ of the government in the Kurram Agency. If government doesn’t take any prompt action, then this fire won’t remained confined to the Kurram Agency.

sirf nice of you to remind us again ,whats still on the run.
though i understand ,the theme but still its a courteous way to ask the writer ,to state his point of view clearly .
please explain who is helping whom in the current going rift as their is some ambiguity left in your version .regards
