Can Fatwas Stop Suicide Attacks ?

By Tazeen • Dec 9th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 13 Comments

When in 2004, the Pakistan Army entered into the FATA area against Taliban, the first tide of suicide attacks started in cities of Pakistan. At that time, many religious leaders including the Maulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi, who was killed in Lal Masjid denounced the suicide attacks and called them “Haram.”

When in 2007, the tragic incident of Lal Masjid Operation happened, the rate of suicide attack increased manifolds. Even then many religious leaders who were against the operation spoke out against the suicide attacks and gave Fatwas against the suicide attacks. Now once again, the suicide attacks have increased and the interior minister Rehman Malik is asking religious scholars to give Fatwas.

The religious scholars have once again given Fatwas, but the suicide attacks are going on with much more intensity in every part of the country.

Why?

Because the suicide attacks are not Islamic and they must not be equated with the Islam. We, the Muslims of the Pakistan must not justify Islam against the backdrop of suicide attacks. Hindus never justified the Tamil Tigers. Suicide attacks are against humanity and the Islam.

It’s all a political and power game. Proxy war is being fought in the rugged region between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The failed strategies of ISI and CIA are now bouncing back in the form of Taliban who have become terrorist now and now killing everyone. Taliban want power in the FATA region, and as Pakistani forces are advancing over there, they are killing Pakistanis to pressurize the Pakistani forces. The Taliban terrorists are funded by India through Afghanistan. America also wants to weaken Pakistan to snatch the nuclear assets.

We Pakistanis must not just sit back and rely on the Fatwas. We must come forward, show power and resolve and courage against the suicide attackers and more importantly the extremist and fanatic elements in our society. We need to confront the terrorism head on. Nobody is going to come from anywhere to get us out of this mire.

  1. Tazeen the fact of the matter is the bunch of Stupids or Idiots whoever they are in this present Jiyala Style Government Officials — they do realize that for people who grew up and stopped living their lives based on one of the ISSUED FATWA, you sound just like —FREEMASONS/NEOCONS – Either you’re with us or NOT— when they spew their set of meaningless phrases in their Dazzy Cutter Bombardment at Tora Bora. Don’t you – Rehman Malik & Tahir Qadri?

The English Speaking Ruling Elite & some stupid Religious Faction in our society had some interesting thoughts back in 9/11 which reflecting in this current issued FATWA that this would happen if we did not take control of our government.

Thanks Jiyala Rehman Malik who stressed to Mullah Bradari issue Fatwa at once & how rapidly this junk Tahir ul Qadri compliance the same. How many with your thoughts AGREED the only remaining question is for you?

As far as I concern until & unless Justice is not prevailed these Bomb Blasts & Acts of Bloody Bath will remain continue rather enhance. As the most stressing point in the HOLY QURAN is Justice ONLY which is Lacking in our beloved country.

  2. Civil society should come up in public in droves against terrorism.

  3. Hello Miss Faryal How can you say that cicvil society.
    What can we do?
These terrorists have heavy organism they have money, weapon and all other thing ?

  4. Aray Faryal ji hamaray pass tou Khanay tou Atta or Suger hi nahi hay ?
App kon si world may rehti hoo?

  5. Fatwa is just the step in the ledder to aware people regarding the intension of taliban, which are used to be hiding themself in the shadow of Islam. I think its good step, now media has also do the proper awarness program to clear the bad image of taliban.

  6. There is no shortages of fatwa on this bombing issue since the start of this deadly game in our soil but why these were unnoticed and ineffective since the time of execution and that should be point to discussed.
Giving irrelevant importance to tahir qadir fatwa or anian janian of rehman malik is just for political gains and it has no link with real grave problem of insecurities that are being dominant in our system after every blast.
Nobody is stopping them to deliver such message but it should be issued along with the social links of relevant cleric with street people.
Using TV or telephonic power for delivering such verbal counter attack is not requirement of time as fire has crossed the boundary of safety limits so physical efforts are more requisite than such verbal religious maneuvers.

  7. Hi Tazeen,
I am sorry to see you falling into the routine trap of anti/Indian feeling when it doesnot suit you to be anti /USA.
I am pasting the thoughts of Wahab
“””” Central to Muhamed Ibn al Wahab’s message was the essential oneness of TAWHID(GOD). They follow the cause which is known as AHL AT TAWHID or MUWAHHIDUN( Unitarians). Wahab’s instructions in the matter of extending Islamic teachings by force were strict. All unbelievers ( Christians,Hindus,Jews as well as those who did not accept Wahab’s interpretation of Islam and Holy Quoran is more supportive of him) were to be put to death. He viewed votive offerings, praying at saints tombs and at graves, any prayer ritual in which suppliant appeals to a third party for intercession with TAWHID as objectionable.Even celebration of prophet’s birthday,Shia mourning ceremonies, Sufi Mysticism of Indian Muslims( like in Ajmer shereef) are particularly abhorring for his followers.”””
WAHABISM, SALAFISM, HANBALI are all same.Wahab even tried to destory the tomb of Prophet Mohamed in Saudi arabia as he feared it iwll be worshipped! That is why these guys destroyed mazar-e shareef in Indian kashmir and tried to destory Ajmer Sheereef. AND SO MANY SUFI TOMBS IN pAKISTAN.You all Pakistanies clapped. Again when they destroyed bamiyan Budhas, you clapped. When they outcasted Ahmediyas during Bhuttos rule, you clapped. None of these clerics ever issued FATWAS against any of these acts. When a 11 year old christian boy wrote something against Islam, he was prosecuted under Blasphemy act. None of these clerics issued any fatwas against the punishment to a juvenile delinquent because he was a christian. Infact none from your free media wrote against these.
Now these Taliban are encouraged by USA to do these acts to provoke a war between India and Pakistan so that both nations can be defanged of NUKES. iT IS NOT ONLY Pakistan BUT ALSO iNDIA WILL ALSO PAY WITH BLOOD FOR YOUR NATIONS OBSESSION WITH INDIA.

  8. blah blah blah….can you do better than that ?

  9. Only MQM is the last and only hope. Altaf Bhai has given Fatwa that Namaz behind the maulvi who supports terrorism is haram.

    So true, so visionary.

  10. mayh be nottt… they are not muslim… so how fatwa effect them

  11. Friday prayers should be banned in sensitive areas. All Imaams and mosques should register with Pak Army Religious Corp and get their Khutbas approved.Anyone encouraging terrorism and Jihad in sermons should be banned.

  12. Is Jihad a part of five pillars of Islam. All the terrorists seem to think it is the first duty of a ‘true muslim’ to do Jihad -Qatalo fee Sabil-allah (Kill in the name of Allah).
    Prayers
    Zakat
    Fasting
Hajj are essential for a muslim to be a muslim.

  13. these are who are ignorant people. The religious leaders who need to be deafeated by the Pakistan army. They don’t even know the religion I believe and they say that suicide is leal in Islam. The media should unfold the faces and the teachings of these leaders
