The Pakistani Spectator

The people of Pakistan are under great stress. We are what we call the tragedy of human advancement. There is not much chance of me describing and making you understand what I mean since it is no more than the incomprehensible rantings of a man in mourn….what with the 12 suicide bombings (in 2008 alone) killing more than a hundred of my brothers and sisters.

My heart aches as it feels the pain and the empty feelings of the loved ones when they go home with nothing more than the memories of the innocent loved one gone, without any reason.

My heart goes out for all the mothers who lost their sons, who didn’t go to war those fateful mornings, but to work but never returned home, to those wives who still cannot believe their husbands died in a suicide attack.

For those children whose fathers or mothers were just passing the place where this suicide bomber thought to blow himself, to the family of that Surgeon General whose life was dedicated to healing the sickly and pale.

My heart has been weeping and my tears are not dry when I hear of another explosion, that rounds up more of those innocent. The guards at the door, the security official trying to keep an eye on intruders or the driver just driving an official home.

My people, my maimed fellow countrymen, my dead brothers and sisters, I give you my word that I will not stop writing till this inhumanity is over.

I still look to a future, safe from suicidal bombers and corrupt politicans, safe from this war on terror, safe from people killing each other in the name of religion.

I still hope and I ask you to join me.

Together with hope…
