Pakistan’s #1 terrorist is Baitullah Mehsud who has rocked Pakistan from Karachi to Khyber with a continuous string of suicide attacks, bomb blasts, kidnapping and then his other evil tactics. He has garnered support from many quarters and is capable of wrecking havoc throughout Pakistan.

His this power has not all of a sudden emerged from out of the blue. He has cashed in on the opportunity. He is using the wandering and clueless foreign militants and the local militants, in the name of Islam, as a cannon fodder. He is receiving money from Russia, India and Afghanistan. He is getting support from the fanatic elements through out Pakistan, especially in the South of Punjab. He has managed to unite the terrorist groups and acts as a godfather. He is utterly disliked by many of other militant commanders within Waziristan area, but he has managed to either kill them or to defang them or to compromise with them. He is shrewd and agile as snake and needs to be dealt with utmost professionalism and intelligence.

Dialogue with Baitulah Mehsud are just another name of caving into this power and to kowtow before his blackmailing. He has done it before. There have already been two major military operations against Baitullah Mehsud in South Waziristan and in both cases the government and the army had to accept his power and make peace deals with him in February 2005 and January 2009 and agree to an exchange of prisoners and compensation for losses suffered by his tribe.

This is perhaps the last operation in Waziristan no matter who loses or who wins. So we, all Pakistan, must understand and fight for our survival.
