Banks’ OCOs Being Disgraced

In June 2006, Banks started to fulfill their human resource requirement through Outsource Human Resource Service Providers. Due to shortage of jobs in the market a big competition is being seen for jobs. Banks are hiring a huge number of females since then on nominal wages (from Rs 7000~9000 a month). The people, who are being hired posses Bachelor & Master Degrees in various fields of education.

I have interview some of the Outsourced Cash Officers who are working in various banks like United Bank, Habib Bank etc say that they are being given every task but when it comes to the hiring by the bank where they are employed, then bank hires from outside on reference basis. They are not being given the chance as existing outsourced employee. As per contract by the outsourcing firm these people are not allowed any leave which is against the rules of employment.

Another merit to hire females on banks vacant post is some immoral behaviors. I am not blaming the female of any sin, but a female gives more times to a branch manager of any influential senior gets the appointment letter. The criterion is depressing the sincere workers mentally.

There is internal politics which is present in every organization as the old staff is matriculate or under metric working for years and do not want to see an educated colleague prospering.

Banks must review their hiring policies and preference must be given to their own workers not to them who come with a referred visiting card. Outsourcing firms must also review their contracts with the employees to a better version. And there should be some period after which confirmation of an outsourced employees must take place automatically and until then salary of such employees must be reviewed per annum as per market inflation rates.
