April 20, 2008: A Turning Point for Pakistan
By Farid Masood • Apr 12th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 19 Comments •18th February 2008 was a turning point for Pakistani Nation. The nation who remained under tremendous violations of rule of law, good governance, systems’ stability, merit, independence of institutions, sovereignty and human rights. Dr Ishrat Hussain & our beloved ex-Prime Minister Mr Shaukat Aziz put the nation into enormous financial pressures. Not further going into detailed long story I want to present a forecast for the nation.
The date I have selected April 20, 2008 seems very gloomy to me in the sense of changing the horizon in favor of the Pakistani Nation after passing through the period of 8~9 years which I have mentioned above in 1st Para.
After this cut-of-date, the horizon is opening for the nation, though the time is tough and the path is bumpy but the country will start to progress in fields of rule of law, economic growth, reinstatement of judiciary, stability of institution & supremacy of parliament, peace on western border, equality of relationship with other countries and last but not the least fleeing of dictatorship.
We are lucky that the change has come without any major bloodshed but we have to change our attitudes also. We should also start thinking like a nation.

without any major bloodshed :O what are you saying sir .. ? are you in your moods !! mend you this sentence.. Please rectify or reply .. i am following you on this !
Farid Masoon, once again at its best. Outstanding article. I trust you, my dear.
Acha, chalain let’s see.
There is morning after every night, but this soon?
No soon, We have seen long long rules of Military personnels. they divided Pakistan in 1971 and tried their level best to divide rest of Pakistan in 3 countries… balochistan, Pakhtoonistan and Tukraistan (sind and tinaab).
These military people are ready to compromise with those, who have same power and can fight peoperly with them (India) but becomes lions for their own citizens. Where is that so called terrorism. Its just slogan of Mushi and Pro Mushi. They raised slogan of Enemy India in 1960’s, which result in break of Pakisatan and in 1980’s they raised slogan of Jihaad and result… still we are facing. They are very clever. they are doing actual foxy politics with Pakistanis. first uses them and then kills them. Its same as Mushi used RWP core commander and then kicked on his ass after concurring own Pakistan. What a bravery they shows in front of unarmed people. but can’t dare to even face others on borders. tries their level best to remain in civil offices.
We basically forgets history and this military personnels uses it again and again. Now they will remain calm for next 8 to 10 years and then they will again attack on Pakistan. After all they have to do practice. I can also bet that Military people on both sides will never allow politicians to solve Kashmir problem because then who will keep them as WHITE ELEPHANT. Its long term planning and we will suffer till our politician will not take solid step to hang till death those, who takes part in Military cue. We need example for saving our future.
Compromise with these kind of rulers is not in National Interest. Making Example is must now. As other countries did to bring back democracy on right track forever.

You must have heard people often saying about “Inqalab”, Indeed such things happen after bloodshed, a bloodshed does not mean sacrifice of 8 or 10 dozen people, i shiver to describe it. so people have scraficed but not in hundreds or thousands.
I we feel arround the change is present, how much we care for it is upto us.
Rahim Shah
Its lovely to see you, Saba and Dr sahiba again.
regards
Farid, my friend our prayers are with you for the betterment of our beloved country and her inhabitants.
In regards to the above article. I add that it might be a turning point in the history of our nation, But the events which distrub is PPPP trying to promote ZAB and BB too much and also special focus on Garhi Khuda Baksh. It seems that a CULT or HYPE is being generated at the cost of the VOTERS. to promote and re-live the past history. So to benefit the PPPP in times to come. Why cant the leaders focus that efforts to improve efficiency in providing services to the Nation. It seems REVENGE-HATE- MARRIAGES-DEATHS are to promoting subjects of the PPPP and PML-N . The tale of 2 Brothers.. My hearts bleeds to see the Selfish leaders of Pakistan. We need another Jinnah to show the way,
All Above Commentors & especially Fakir,
From that cut-of-date the change may be seen in the national horizons, but leaders of a party like Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Farooq Naik etc are upto personal agendas. Our system do not allow the birth of another Jinnah, It is allow there are many Jinnahs right now in this nation. If i say every Pakistani is a Jinnah except all these leaders available that may not be wrong. There is long way of learing for our these leaders that the source of power is Pakistani Nation Not Americans, English etc or their support. See How speedily they cross this distance would be better for us.
Farid,
Every body can’t be Jinnah. It was our luck that we got Jinnah and then few sincere team members. You know, before Mr Jinnah’s death he realized that this country is not gonna run as he dreamed. We lacks sincere Pakistanis since first day of Pakistan. Please read few historical books for reference. Our new generation are not taught all realities. Dr Shahid Masood tried to show some Hidden Truths about Pakistan history but Ary Digital couldn’t showed that serial.
Nations can’t develop without getting knowledge about their true history. They keeps doing same mistakes again and again because they don’t have history knowledge.
I tell you my personal college experiecne. I questioned to my teacher that why you teaches us basic inventions and short falls happened by those old scientists. He answered that if we will not tell you about historical inventions and shortfalls then you can repeat same mistakes when you will try them in your career. So repeating same invention just becuase you dont know that some body has already tried it and made it… is simply wastage of time and resources.
We should apply same practice in national development.
If everybody cannot act as Jinnah then this nation cannot prosper, I append one virtue of Mr Jinnah that We must stand up and earn respect by our behavior this only can be achieved by refusing the loans, donations etc from outside. and blogs are one of the source of national development if utilized positively.
Mr Farid,
Governement will refuse loans then who will finance expenditures? Rich people or poor people? Dear Government is appealing to use Electricity less these days to overcome electricity shortage up to some extent… Who is hearing and complying accordingly… Rich People or Poor People. Obviously poor people. Its problem with our mentality. Most of Rich people are NO-DOLTAY in Pakistan. They always shows their strangth on the basis of money. They lacks ethics and social responsiblity sense. How to change their minds??? If you will change minds of elite class then you will find change yourself. Its not possible because majority of Pakistanis are now materialistic. No body is there to help others. No body is willing to comply on merit. No body is willing to share even single loaf of bread with others. If some body tries to help others then we starts making fool of him, starts raising questions on his sincerity. In last, he also runs away. even from country.
Pakistan have sincere people in all areas but we need to give them confidence and facilitate them accordingly to help in growth of nation. Alas our system can’t do it.
You thinks a teacher having salary Rs1,500 for one month will tell student that what are ethics and social responsibility. She will obviously ask students to please come for tution. Although owner of school will be getting high fees from students.
It is one example. Dear, in this system rich man is getting rich and poor is getting poor. The more money you will have, the more you will be able to earn. Its like magnet. Which never moves himself but catches all iron particles in its surroundings. Only few big magnets are required to hold whole economy. We are basically tilting towards that now. You have experienced national level games by creating supply and demands abnormality for utility items in Pakistan for sucking maximum money. whom to blame? Government and few master minds like Shaukat Aziz. They bring this concept from USA because now you can’t get billions of loan from bank illegally. So he played with the market. this concept will prevail in long term if there will be no system to punish culprits.
We are proceeding toward revolution. People have given last chance to this elite class by giving votes on Feb 18. Next time, I don’t think they will give vote. they will simply change every thing at 180 degree. I feels real anger in poor people. they are right now controlling it. but when it will be unbearable then they won’t think about any thing. obviously there are limits for every thing. They are near those limits. On one side, we spends 3000+ for one dinner in hotel with friends and cant give 30Rs to any poor man. Do you expect that they will remain silent on it. Its purely social imbalance and needs to be rectified.
What ever was my observation and analysis, I wrote it. Thanks.
I think you better stop writing’ as not only you had shut down your 5 senses but trying the same to others.
A country which was in turmoil for last one year (due to stupidity of CH. Iftikhar, Ch. AA, Mian, Zardari and on top death of BB with International food crisis and oil price hike) going to achieve 6%+ GDP growth for next fiscal year has got brilliant legacy from the Shaukat Aziz led govt. and his team members.
Farid,
Are you dreaming about the same horizon which prevailed in our country during 1988-1999
Saleem Khan # 14 above.
You are right, we do have lots and lots of problems, but it’s not your fault and it’s not mine either.
There is no need to hold eachother responsible for this. Pakistan is just one village in this big big world facing many many problems. We are not the only people in this situation and I like to believe that we had things pretty much under control and were reasonably on the right track. Then. Boom. The hell broke lose. Everything started going wrong. Let’s be honest what made us suddenly so concerned about the absence of certain politicians. Did anyone out there in the streets really missed or cared where were these politicos. And they were living their lives nicely where ever they were. BB was travelling around the world Dubai-UK-France-USA and back giving lectures to the world and us and it was harmless; Mians were also busy building their palace in Jeddah, and enjoying their luxury flats in the West London (nice locality, really) doing shopping and implants etc. looking after their beauty and fitness and we also wished them good times, never mind if we or our children would never ever get one hour of such luxuries. Aitzaz Ahsan has his son studying in Harvard University, his daughter is in Switzerland. And Aitzaz lives in great style in his wonderful house and gives interview sitting in greatly done, decorated living room (Drawing Room) and that’s fine, too. Never mind if our children don’t even have the opportunity to learn where all these fancy schoos or places are, we never made an issue with them about their great great welath and fortune and our tremendous pain and sufferings. Then how come all of a sudden they all started worrying about our welfare? There is something terribly wrong here, I haven’t heard anyone from them announcing that all their wealth (most of it made at our cost!) will be donated to a charity to provide some education, some health care or whatever to the poorest Pakistanis. Why? Let the charity begin right here. Now, in last a year and a half these people have created such cirmstances that we have even less than what was there. Is it our fault? Is a Punjabi or a Pathan, or a Sindhi, or a Baluchi, or a lets Muhajir responsible for our pains and sufferings. I say NO! Think about it.
So we should become beggers like we are doing now? Change in this system is inevitable no one is going to step forward.
Our leaders of forces are bound to their built in problems, our politicians are upto their own skin saving. The nation is silent. who will become the first drop is the problem now. When my brother gives me money i accept then he will interfere in my home also. Then we should keep begging?
Aashique Jee
You have the right to speak, tell me what our current regime has gave us in last 9 years, please come up with facts and figures.
