ANP Not Happy Over In Camera Session

By Altaf Khan • Oct 23rd, 2008 • Category: Politics • No Responses •

After 14 days of in-camera proceedings, parliament came up with a 16-member parliamentary committee to evolve a consensus on reshaping the government’s policy on the war on terror, and in this committee the coalition partner of Pakistan People’s Party ANP has not joined in, which renders this exercise pretty much useless and sends wrong signals.

First time, the ANP has publicly accused its coalition partner of non-serious attitude in the war against terror, especially in the Swat area. Haji Adeel accused the government of non-serious attitude towards resolving the issue and warned that if it did not change its attitude, they would not be able to achieve success against extremism. Haji Adeel said the Army used to impose curfew during which neither police nor the Army came out to the rescue of the people. Thus, it benefits the militants.

After the suicide attack on ANP’s chief Asfund Yar Wali, the ANP has grown way too much apprehensive towards PPP and its approach and they have even forgotten the America-Yatra of Asfundyar just after winning the elections. ANP may be right in their accusations and apprehensions, but the way their leadership has escaped the country in sheer terror, is astonishing and disappointing.
