American Aid to Pakistan

By Brig. (r) Junaid Zaman • Apr 13th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 5 Comments •

The Pakistan has changed and so is the masters in Washington, whose mastery is in bit doldrums right now, and due to uncertainty in Washington about their own new President, they are pretty much unsure about what to do about their favorite yet uncertain ally in the war on terror.

Just to show their “sheer” support to the nourishment of democracy in Pakistan, Condoleezza Rice, the American foreign minister has said that as Pakistan is again on the way of democracy so America is resuming it’s financial aid to Pakistan in regard of military.

This is strange, because at one side America wholeheartedly supports the rule of President Pervez Musharraf and has been giving him billions of dollars, and on the other side congratulating and rewarding Pakistan over the resumption of journey towards a democratic rule. At one side, US toughies John Negroponte and Richard Boucher are visiting Pakistan to turn the muscles of the new Pakistan Democratic Alliance to support Musharraf and his policies, and at the other end, they are rallying behind the democratic forces.

The truth of the matter is that America thrives in the third world on these tinpot dictators, and it uses them for it’s own interests to any extent and at any cost. President Musharraf is an ideal for US, because now the only cushion Musharraf has is made in Washington, and there is no else respite for him. He would do anything for America just to save his rule, and that is what America likes most in the world.

We have been American toadies for many decades now, though it never helped us in the real sense, and the thing is that it’s time that we get ourselves out of this vicious cycles of aid, donations and debts and become a nation with esteem and dignity and say no to aids from anywhere.

But that we would require guts from the elected leaders and will of nation to sacrifice.

  4. come on sir ,whats the point in hating america on grants and relief .be realistic .do you have any thing to eat ,are you that much nationalist that you can just kick off this aid and can look after your peoples .are we ready to accept sanctions .do we have that much reserves that can withstand our attitude .are our leaders capable enough to tackle their people and their day to day greviences and requirement .are we ready as nation who can manage on its own like IRAN and syria.its all rubbish that we criticise america on such issues of grants and aids .who supported us during earthquakes ,we can even dig out our people from such disaster ,why dont we realize and understand our profile ,.pleasesee there is no point in criticising a super power for its grant .from politics to principle appointments are are governed by these powers and you must be familiar of what i am up to ..i suggest that we should not critisize america on aid but rather should try to get out of what is essential as nation ..i suggest we should first prepare our selves and manage to live on our own ,then it will be the ideal treatment which you are requesting that can be implemented .

  5. sorry ,its very discurtious on my end that i forgot to say thanks to america ,for the aid and grant and looking after all our issues .
