America Has to Shed Old Habits

By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Apr 4th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 3 Comments •

Old habits die hard, but the new rulers of Pakistan must not wait for Americans to shed their habits, rather we have to enforce the change in their habits by force with stringent actions. We need to tell them in the Pentagon that we are not a nose of wax anymore, and we have a writ and are a sovereign nation and want to act and live like that, and US must stop dictating the new parliament.

Americans must understand that this is a changed Pakistan and the country has moved away from the stern grip of their puppet Pervez Musharraf. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani has announced some drastic decisions, and he would do well to be the first premier of Pakistan to break the shackles of United States forever. He has been given the vote of confidence unanimously and so he has got the support of full house and the whole nation is standing behind him.

American interference in Pakistani affairs is not new thing, but due to the war on terror American interference has increased by many folds. Pakistan, once and for all, must tell US administration that this war against terror is not of Pakistan and US must not use Pakistani shoulders to complete it’s vested interests. The use of force in the tribal belt by Pakistan forces on the behest of America has cost Pakistan horrendously. News is that President Musharraf has allowed US forces to operate freely in Pakistani territory, perhaps in a bid to secure his Presidency. New government must take prompt action and warn US of any such adventure.

Dr. Sahab you have hit the nail on the head.

  2. Doctor saheb,
to do what you want Pakistan government to do, the people of Pakistan has to sacrifice. The ordinary farmers, workers will do the sacrifice.
But the middleclass and ARMY, will it sacrifice? 10 billion is the amount US has pumped in to the vested interests which support USA. Musharaff would have gone long ago without this support. The people who look at karachi index are the real power brokers and not poor of Pakistan. the new government might have been elected by pakistani poor but power is weilded by the feudalists and share price watchers.America knows this and Musharaff knows this and ARMY knows this.
History is being made in Pakistan but i have few hopes for real FREEDOM from america because it entails SACRIFICE. Also read the latest issue of STARTFOR (american think tank)and how the americans view your country.

  3. Agreed with Johann. Do we really have the guts to sacrifice?
