Altaf Hussain, who you’re trying to fool?
By Talal Hussain Malik • Apr 13th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 10 Comments •Altaf Hussain of MQM could be a great teacher for you if you wanted to master the intonation pattern of Urdu language. Well, that’s not what I want to talk about here but the news is that Altaf Bhai decided to resign from MQM’s leadership and then took a U turn before the news could hit the nook and corner of the country.
As the situation is, series of unfortunate incidents like massacre of May12, and recent riots in Karachi have revealed the real face of MQM to the general public. Lucky for the public especially that of Punjab that they were able to see the scrofulous face behind the mask that MQM has been wearing. If I am not being too compassionate, I believe that MQM was might have won something around 10-15 seats in Punjab assembly had they been able to continue without their real face revealed to the public. Even though the unfortunate incidents resulted in the death of scores of people, I believe that the deaths of those unfortunate who died in the May12 massacre have saved their countrymen from a Sphinx that would eventually engulf the innocents of the neighboring provinces in future.
Right when the real face of MQM has been revealed to the public, and now that everyone knows who is behind the recent killings in Karachi, Altaf Hussain refused to lead MQM and tried to show his anguish on what the innocents have gone through on account of the atrocities of his party. Quite foolish a stunt. And right away, he has taken the U turn in the better interest of his party. My commiserations for Karachiites!

In the quest of life, is it “Nothing ventured, nothing gained?” or “Nothing ventured, nothing lost?” I'd venture to find..

This all drama was to show his innocense, If the current government who is becoming angry about the role of MQM takes action, he will present this incident to prove his no-connection with such activities of MQM. Then local leadership will be punished and he will enjoy ‘Bhatta-Driven’ life in UK. A very clever move of him in advance.
There is more to it then Altaf just showing his innocence. He is trying to kill two birds with a stone. One, showing his innocence of course, but also keeping himself immune from any threat of action by the British government. Performing terrorist activities from the British soil is a severely punishable act, but could also lead to the deprivation of his citizenship.
But by blaming his party men for not diffusing the mayhem, Altaf has inadvertently implicated his party workers in the 9th April massacre. It wasn’t a secret anyhow. It is MQM and no other, responsible for the 12th May, and now 9th April massacre. It’s just that it was quite uncanny coming from the horse’s mouth.
SIR - I AM REPETEDLY INCLINED SAY THAT ALLOWING SUCH POSTS COULD BE CONSTRUED AS A CONSPIRACY TO DISTURB THE PEACE IN KARACHI … I WOULD APPEAL TO ALL MODERATORS TO PLEASE … STOP AND REMOVE ALL SUCH POSTS AND NOT ALLOW SUCH POSTS IN FUTURE. BEING CANDID IS ONE THING BUT ACCUSING AND CHARACTER ASSASINATION IS ANOTHER THING. FOR GODSAKE LET PAKISTAN MOVE ON … MAY ALLAH KEEP US ALL UNDER HIS PROTECTION .. AAMEEN
The history sheeters, cut throats and convicted criminals who had taken over the Karachi control for the last 5 years are now in doldrums. Controlled by the Don Altafionie the ex cabbie, having his favourite law officers appointed round the city, with whose connivance and collusion the capo regimes and their soldiers/buttons were given a complete free hand to run havoc in this great city. Not quite in the Mafia style, as the real Mafia never touched women and children, but the Altafionie goons would kill, maim, decapitate, drill holes in limbs, in short commit every conceivable sub-human atrocity without any regard to age or creed.
Now that some honest Police officers are being deployed again in the city, these criminals are throwing tantrums with great hue and cry. Their stupidity is evident from the fact that any honest disposition would be happy to welcome honest and upright law officers.
If you are “IamGullible” - well it’s your choice.
I work as editor-incharge in an English newspaper that is published from Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. And this post by Mr Talal Hussain caught my attention mainly because I work for the edition of newspaper that is published from Karachi and there is a huge junk pile of news from the same City I have to be through every day(night to be accurate).
In my estimation what Mr Talal Hussain put there about Mr Altaf Hussain was a balanced critique of the latter.
MQM, regardless if its seminal days justifiable struggle and fair-enough on-the-paper manifesto, has ended up like any fascist party that has ever existed.
The party has no patience for the criticism to it. Almost all the City folks know as to who engineered the plot to kill the whole leadership of Sunni Tehrik’s leadership in Nishtar Park tragedy. Then Karachiites witnessed the hell broken loose on those opponents on May 12, 2007. As journalist I know how much censorship is there on us to report fairly from Karachi (though there are sacred cows all across the country).
Why only those who are against the fascist factors in our country are made and example for those who are potentially daring?
(Any error, misspelling will only reinfoce my claim as being an editor.)
“Just SAM!” You are just another namesless, faceless juncky - why should anyone care about what you think - even you don’t trust yourself, otherwise would not hide your identity. One believes that you are ashamed of your own personal history and are just a fake and pretender.
That was hilarious Mr Aftab M Aslam… but dear I have to be anonymous or I would be out of job… Ghareeb ki roozi par kiyon laat marna chahtey ho yar!!!.
No, I don’t agree with you - as long as you are not planning to sabotage the “business interests” of your employers, or conspiring an act of treason etc. your “rozi” will be intact and you wil still be eating the same “do rotis” at the end of the day - no more, no less. Moeover, if you have the strength of your conviction when you go public with your ideas then I guess it has to be at your risk - aisa to hoga, istrah ke kamo main -.
By staying anonymous you are faceless and the exploiters in the garb of a politician want us faceless; after all you can make them feel the shame if he / she must face someone, a real person not just someone with a fantasy, just a pastime, because the nightshifts tend to stretch a little and there’s not much to do.
