A Full-Dress Interview by Atika Odho
By Farid Masood • Mar 17th, 2008 • Category: Entertainment • 21 Comments •Yesterday, on Geo TV many of us have witnessed a casual interview of the President Musharraf. The interviewer was the renowned TV artist Atika Odho.
Atika Odho is reported to be an closet friend of President Musharraf and she is off the scene frequently visiting army house after the military coup by Musharraf. It was good to see old friends talking to each other in a casual interview in front of camera.
This interview may be a bid by an old friend to help stabilizing the declining popularity of the president. In near future we may witness a song ‘Qaseeda’ in favour of the president by Humaira Arshad (a pop singer ) soon.

It is very painful to see that our so called “Civil Society” with the freedom of Media has given Birth to a new breed of people. These Experts are seen on every Tv channel and also witing Blogs - these know all experts seem to have only one point agenda - “always call a right a left”. Trying to ridicule our leaders, our society, our past, our present - nothing ever goes right in their expert opinions. For God Sake - when are we ever going to mature and come up with some constructive sugestions ! President Pervez Mushrraf has led the country towards “Democracy” - we may not agree with all his Policies - but that is no excuse to pass such insulting comments about a Person who is in the position of our Father …… I would also appeal to the TV channels to please snap out of it and show some courtesy and decency. We still have to see our “Democratic” government which is still unable to decide who gets what piece of the Cake … God save Pakistan ..Ameen
Don’t be so ridiculous about your views in writing a mere piece to only publish your article. Widen your thoughts please. Stick to the facts and be realistic. Why don’t you quote the positive things mention in that interview! ?
Come on people, the title of this post to be taken as a positive one, the simli taken from ‘FULL DRESS REHERSAL’ then whats wrong in that, please also point out what is written rediculous in this post. If my father is doing wrong I must Speak out for the betterment.
Farid masood sahab,
please spell check before you leave comments. You are a regular and it reflects badly that a contributor fails to perform something as basic as spell check.
Tazeen
we don’t belong to USA or Europe, so its ok when you understand the meanings
regards
Tazeen
below are some mistakes in your article “Another one bites the dust”
Mistakes are in single commas
Another women’s day had passed. I was invited to four different events that day, but I chose the one organized by Goethe ‘Institut’ and Oxford University Press
Please read carefully below:
‘Justice Iqbal is wife of Justice Javed Iqbal’ and daughter-in-law of Dr. Muhammed Iqbal a.ka. Allama Iqbal.
A man installed a painting on a cross road with a tag that please mark mistakes on this photo. at the evening same day he cannot see the painting but corrections.
the next day he did the same with a tag please mark suggest improvement in this photo, at the evening the painting remained as it.
my suggestion to you is just correct yourself then point it out to others.
Tazeen and Farid,
I think you have started behaving like our politicians; quarreling on pety issues ignoring huge ones.
Aashique of Musharraf
No big issue exists in Pakistan even you put the whole constitution aside, pick the innocents, kill the 6 months children on so called war on terror. here in Pakistan everyone is upto his own agenda, like Musharraf
My freind Farid,
You and the people like Imran Khan are partly responsible for the suicide attacks in the country. When then so-called politician appears on any TV talk shows, first thing he used to say, “Their children, their women, their elders are killed by the air bombardments and missile attacks, they must take the revenge of this.”
I don’t how many sympathisers he had created who would have become suicide bombers due tohis foolish remarks.
This stupid man really create a scene while telling about the collateral damage.
I believe that he terrorists are resposible for the deaths of innocent people. They were given chance again and again but it never worked and ultimately the last option is to remain the use of force.
Same in the case of Lal Mosque, no one (logical and sensible) could blame govt for the use of force
I may not be logical…but the sensible thing to do was not to use such force…instead prevent such an incident…like lal Mosque
The ISI headquarters is not 2 kilometres from there…but the ISI was not able to see the weapons being transferred there…they didnt know that there were females with Dandas coming out on streets…
Every one in Pakistan was yelling that sumthing like a confrontation is in the making…but none of them were arrested….
Mr Ashique, In your opinion, i think you’d say why do people go and say prevention is better than cure, when use of power is more sensible and logical…
although i used to support our president .but mistakes are mistakes and
this is a mistake which I believe is delibrate…and the person/persons behind it are responsible for the deaths of all the innocent killed in the use of force….
although the media is responsible for a lot of chaos…i beleive too
especially damaging is the race to Break the news…with gruesome image making race of the media of Pakistan…no conscience or responsibility
but Sir please truth should be spoken
Though the president is responsible for the free elections
there is alot which is wrong
lets Unite instead of quarrelling
-peace
@Aashique of Musharraf: It is so easy for you to call everything “collateral damage”. Oh let me guess you learnt this phrase from the master of all masters the li’l ol’ bushy. Yea right!
If portraying facts, about criminal injustices tentamount to a genocide in making, is ‘foolish statements’ in your opinion then i rest my case.
I think I am right to say that collateral damages can never be avoided when the Aza’ab comes to the people every one gets killed.
Let’s suppose!
If I know my brother is involved in terrorist activities and playing in the hands of enemies of Pakistan and I am not helping the concerned authorities I must make myself ( with my family) physically and mentally prepared for the consequences and ready to accept ultimate death by any missile attack and anything else Or atleast I should leave that place and move somewhere else. So these innocent people can save their lives by a no of ways.
Pakistani People (at-least Educated ones) should start thinking using their brain now, instead of thinking by their HEARTS!!!???
One must understand now that we have to completely destroy these terrorists now otherwise they will capture whole of Pakistan and will destroy it.
What Musharraf is doing is just for the sake of Pakistan. No person would like to increase the no. of his personal enemies.
Agreed. The Ashique is right.
We should have prevented construction of this Terrorist HQ, the Lal Mosque, to begin with.
Colletral Damage or any other fancy expression you prefer (MK) basically what it says is simple if you let rats infest your den then chances are they will bring plague. Now, choice is ours.
And then why to grumble so much, now that soon your beloved people will come in the government and sure they will solve all these problems.
Mr. Farid, your reaction is ridiculous. You should be grateful to Tazeen, that she has corrected you whatever 5 or 6 lines you wrote and what you are doing is attacking back? I would request you to accept your mistake instead of firing back, try to improve your writing.
Farah Jalil
thanks for your suggestions i shall try to think about it in recess time
Aashique of Musharraf I think there is a much better way of dealing with any unlawful activity going on in a country. And that method of dealing with things is commonly known as “law of the land”, or the constitution if you will. If there is a thief in the town you apprehend him and present him in the court along with evidence. If you can not do that then the thief has all the right to be ‘infesting the den’ (in Aftab S. Alam’s words). But from what i gather Musharraf has shown little respect for the constitution and the judiciary in the first place.
Taking your example. I think it is wrong to conclude that your helping your evil brother should bring upon the wrath of the world upon you. If you do not practically act against the state the state then has no right to apprehend you or punish you. Also do tell me if you someone is in their right mind would they choose to stay with a family member who is involved in activities against the state.
For Aftab S Alam these people whom you call rats are your fellow human citizens. I remember to this day the footage of a bearded middle aged man who was trying to escape from Lal Mosque and was shot on camera and most probably killed outside the premises without being given a chance to surrender. There was all kind of armoured vehicles in his way how could he have escaped empty handed. Don’t you think that rat deserved a proper judicial examination?
Aftab S. Alam I think it is premature on your part to think that any of the people forming the government at this point in time are my favourite people. It amounts to nothing but rhetoric my friend.
But almost certainly they might not be able to deliver just beciase the great mess Musharraf has made for them in the past 8 years of tyranny.
well it seems that Aftab & Ashiq of Musharaf share common ideas. Calling the beloved son of Pakistan, Imran Khan, as stupid by Ashiq of the dictator is really sad & is an act of an ignorant man & on the other hand my friend Aftab has called the Lal Lasjid as terrirost head quarter & thus had injured sentiments of hundreds of people who have read this. How come you call that martyre Mosque as a terriorst hub. Didn’t you read the well known Karbal episode in the Islamic history, when a muslim dictator took on the offsprings of the prophet of Islam & history had been repeated here right infront of our own eyes in Islamabad, when on the order of a dictator, Qara brigade of PAK army took on innocent students of the Jamia hafsa. Then it was Yazid, Shimer & co, now it was Musharaf, Shukat Aziz & co.
Who doesn’t know that who didn’t go to the army house?

dear mr farid massod ,i really appreciate the tittle of of the covered story , a full dress interview by atiqa odho .This is also very impressing that you perceive things in critical and anaytic way ,so to scruitinize and float ideas to reach a probable diagnosis ,in order to aware people of covered story behind .But sir ,your marvellous innate tendency is directing you in to a controversial mode which during its early period if gets strucked in controverseys will affect your opinion in future as cruel ,bias and unrespectful columnist and writter which i think would never be a piece of cake that would be liked by a person of high calibre and innovative ideas like you .Ithink this tendency to scrutinized things that brings disgrace to anyperson on grounds of morality and disrepect should be curbed by self accountability ,and any things that reflects personel attacks on the life or brings a shamefull turmoil on the human value should not gain acces in opinion as writter .None of us ,as far as this attitude towards our counter genome as female can declare to be ideas free. As to your covered story it is humbly submitted with due regards to your opinion ,that i am not at all a supporter to genereal musharrf ,i repeat i m not a supporter of gen. musharraf , although i have been in service of pakistan army ,and i had the oppurtunity to be in VVIP’s protocol .without naming these VVIP’S i will only say that non of such incidence can be shared and acknowledge with regard to particular lady .Pease see this charge is no way a decent idea to float in public just on the ground of reservation or political rivalry or whatsoever My brother the theme of the story is to halt such undecent assault that affects and puts in embarassing situation especially if ,person is an element of opposite sex as female ,and off course a muslim too .I think it will be very difficult for a lady to be a part and parcel of such discussion ,in a muslim society and muslim nation by a muslim readers and writters ,under a muslim law and sunnah to cope her presence in society and family of children and relative . ..above all attiquettes demand to give way to others .It is nevertheless teaching and standing operative procedures of a muslim nation and islam to ,hold any thing that brings embarassment to some one in society . this is the same criterion that is utilized by these ridiculous nation speaking and floating ideas to hurt muslim by virtue of their plea to justify that its the right of indivisual to float any thing that he regards suitable ,in the contest of free media and your say .I will request to feel and regards and restricts such comments with relation to the discussion indicting a motive to some exciting perverted recipe thus halting and directing the core of discussion with objection to the interview with relation to the political scenario as the theme of discussion.thanks and regard .please take care of people around .
