A Constitutional Package to get rid of Justice once and for all

“A tamed judiciary suiting the Presidency and the PPP-led government is being tailored to give the shock of their lives to those who simplistically took the Murree Declaration seriously and trusted the words of the top political leaders.”

-  Ansar Abbasi

What we dont realise is what we are in for. An elected government, people’s representatives. People agree more or less of a fair election (atleast on the polling day - in most places) - Given these conditions, one would expect that the people will finally have it their way. We finally get rid of the Q league, finally challenge musharraf - or so we thought.

Theoretically, this is all fair; people’s representatives, freshly elected, making decisions, and, we the people have to acccept it. However, is it fair? Is democracy flawed as Socrates said it was, and gave his life for it? Well, i have strong reservations. It’s not necessary that if the majority of the people make a decision it’s the right one.

Some members of the pml-n are also being “pragmatic” and comprimising on their stance on the restoration of judiciary. Curtailing the powere of the CJ, Extending the retiring age of the judges for Dogar, shortening the tenure for Iftikhar Chaudhry. Minus 1, Minus 2. I’m sick of it. Sick of the people who vote for those who have looted the country. Sick of watching them lie through their teeth.

What can we do? and how can we do it? Atleast under the musharraf regime we could put pressure and have our voices heard. But this elected regime to me represents a state mafia - worse than the dictator musharraf, legalising all that we worked against, for what we bled for, for what we cried for, for what we were jailed and for what some of us paid with our lives.

A constitution package - “a law” to get rid of justice for once and for all? As much i hate to admit it, i am now finally beginning  to realise what is happening to us.

great observation and i agree withu… i share ur frustration at the hypocracy of the political farce we call government.. but where i dont agree is when u say…” at least with the dictator mush our voices were heard”… that somehow feels like ur endorsing his regime.

    Aashique of Musharraf Says:

You have given a reference of a person who himself is a controversial media person. According to Hamid Mir who openly introduced Ansar Abbasi incapital talk as the biggest supporter of Suo Moto CJ.

This is a shameless introduction of a media reporter in front of whole nation.

I truly believe that each and every media whether electronic or print and their reporters, editors or anchor persons must play a totally unbiased, un-prejudiced and completely neutral role in the news and all respective current affair programmes but unfortunately in Pakistan we witnessed that our electronic media especially ARY, Aaj etc and particularly Geo is fully supporting point of view of one side and there is a big question mark in the so-called independence of these channels.

By their one-sided approach one can easily justify the ban on these so-called independent channels by Preident Musharraf govt.

These channels hopefully will see very soon the after effect of their this kind of approach. These channels are also resposible for the economic debacle of Pakistan since 9 March, 2007.

You seems to me a desparate person and you find the ‘NO’ of Suo Moto CJ as the solution of all the problems facing the country. You consider Ch. Iftikhar as the ‘Hero of the Nation’ after this NO.

Can I ask you why he (and the other 60 deposed judges) did not say ‘NO’ when they were taking oath from President Musharraf under the first PCO?

The fact of the matter is that this suo moto judge was favouring Musharraf fully before 9 March 2007, like in the case of Zardari’s BMW and Javed Hashmi’s treason case and there are so many examples.

This selfish suo moto cj said ‘NO’ only to save his job and nothing else, and later on everything had become politicised.

If this CJ is reinstated by the coalition govt. Do you think he will be having same suo moto actions against the present coalition govt?

No and Never.! and the time will prove it.
