3rd and Workable Option
By Farid Masood • Aug 24th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 7 Comments •Security advisor to the Prime Minister, Mr Rehman Malik said yesterday, after the suicide attacks on Pakistan Ordinance Factories Wah (Main Gate), that we have two options to combat terrorism:
i) Give in to Terrorism
ii) Fight Terrorism
Mr Malik cannot feel the grief, sorrow, future problems, social issues ahead, for families of 120 innocent people killed in that attack. He has to work on the instruction laid down for him. Mr Malik need courage to speak out about involvement of Indian Secret Services in FATA and Waziristan because we have proofs of Sikh and Hindus present their having get-up like Pakhtoons.
Many writers like me are writing that we should first understand what is actual terrorism in Pakistani terms. Nation becomes stunned when security advisor to Prime Minister says such word. The big question is “Have we worked out what sort of terrorism we are facing?”
I mean to say that are following factors involved in this waves and style of terrorism:
1) Our internal political structure
2) Our economic policies
3) Our foreign policy
4) Injustice
5) Foreign Influence
The workable option is to study the actual scenario and give some time to research on it, may be this will be a little late but not bad if we start it now. After research a policy should be prepared and implemented in Pakistani terms. Isolation from so-called war on terror is imperative for us now. Let the damn NATO, US and allied forces fight their own war.
Another research should be done to give justice on the doorstep of each Pakistani citizen. This should be done parallel to research on policy formation on war on terror. So that a child try to steal flour for his family should not be retained in lockup but a killer or his/her helper must face trial and be punished. This research may block indemnities to looters and killers as we are going to give now.
Research on all above five points must be done openly and policies must be formulated based on it in greater national interest.
Time is to interrogate 12th May 2007 and 9th April 2008 massacre, time to interrogate Killing and handing-over of innocent people of Pakistan, time to interrogate killing of Beynazir Bhutto’s assassination, time to work out solution and future policies based on interrogation. How long Justice Dogar will remain as Chief Justice, how long Supreme Court will return petitions of public.
Government should take bold and timely steps to move on the right track from now onwards. Break those agreements, which are against the nation’s will, interest and against integrity of the country. This will help to improve sovereignty of the state, and this will reduce planned suicide bombing like POF Wah.
Time to think for a moment that till now poor people, who take their lunch from home on a bi-cycle are being killed, time is no far away when political leaders will be the target and no security may protect them. People involved in suicide bombing are becoming more accurate in their targets. Time is running out for us.

Dear Farid,
thanks for writing again a nice post. Problem is this that government will do nothing. They don’t have vision and strategy. They want to grab all in once…mean while, they want to leave one issue for the sake of other.
Examplessss:
Judiciary…Leave it…. Lets first give Roti, kapra aur Makkan….
Terrorism…leave it…lets finish Musharraf first…
Law and Order… leave it… lets get elected as President…
Promises…leave it…lets grab whole country under us first…
and so on.
Don’t expect even a single change from this PPP. They are greedy of seats only. If you seriously want to know… concerns of Pakistan Intelligence agencies then read this… You will get some idea about Bait Ullah Mehsood and why he is unable to be traced….This Taliban Pakistan is the same.
http://www.pakspectator.com/us-told-not-to-back-terrorism-against-pakistan/
Based on my professional experience and studies…
I’m amazed that how this MULLAH OMAR (Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan) is unable to be traced in FATA. He is constantly using Cell Phone for calling Media and accepting their involvement in Bomb blasts etc. It is like a peanut to trace a caller in a minute. Rather exact and accurate location. If government captured so many Taliban and Al Qaeda supporters from different cities of Pakistan by using same Location ID service… why they are unable to trace him. He is using normal Pakistan’s GSM network for calling.
Why government seems helpless in this situation. Why they are not using tracking service for getting ID of all active numbers in those mountains and caves of FATA…where no body else is living.
Hey, Mullah Omar uses a satellite phone, thats difficult to trace.
And this was a phone call of Bush that refrains the govt to have dialogs with militants.
have a look at this article: http://www.guppu.com/2008/08/22/a-phone-call-does-it-all/
I think Mars Planet is providing service of Satellite phone. Come on. Satellite phone is more easy to trace because link is from one place. One more thing for your kind information, the phone he uses is not satellite phone at all. If a call from internet is traceable then mobile is not an issue at all.
through GPRS a Satellite phone is very easy to trace and a missile can target through the same facility, but the Job of that person is not over yet, to recall Pakistan is not giving them Satellite phones.
Farid,
Every active SIM is connected with cell site, BSC and then MSC (switch)… a person sitting on MSC can easily check location ID of cell site on which it is roaming. Not only that, there are 3 or more cells on each site. that cell even shows direction and accurate distance from cell site. GPS and Tracking system are examples, that are benefiting end user and its assets…..So, locating person in this IT world is like a peanut.
good Intentions and sincere efforts are required. Otherwise you can’t find a man, who is actually standing next to you.
PTA through its mobile vans trace calls done through cell numbers as a policy matter and especially in border areas. even SMS are also scanned
